About NavWell

A resource created to support survivors of financial abuse and coerced debt.

Our Mission

NavWell is a comprehensive resource platform designed to empower survivors of financial abuse and coerced debt. We understand that financial abuse is a complex form of intimate partner violence that leaves victims with damaged credit, legal complications, and emotional trauma.

Our mission is to provide clear, compassionate, and practical guidance to help survivors rebuild their financial independence and navigate the complex systems they encounter along the way.

What is Financial Abuse?

Financial abuse is a form of intimate partner violence where one person controls another's economic resources, limiting their financial independence and autonomy. Coerced debt is a specific type of financial abuse where an abuser uses fraud, threats, or force to incur debt in another person's name.

Fraudulent Debt

Debt incurred without your knowledge or consent, such as credit cards, loans, or utility accounts opened in your name without your permission.

Coercive Transactions

Debt forced under threat or pressure, such as being threatened to sign a loan under fear of harm or emotional retaliation.

About This Project

NavWell is a Capstone Project developed by Heather Pham as part of her academic work at USC. This project was created to address the gap in resources available to survivors of financial abuse, particularly those dealing with coerced debt.
